Violet complains of a pain in her shoulder at work, and later collapses; Jamie is desperate to know who told Danny of the split with Frankie; and Jason begins to have second thoughts about Holly's future.

Violet is rushed to hospital; Jason is forced to call Sarah for help when Holly won't stop crying; while Janice's temperature rises when plumber Roger turns up to fix her heating. Meanwhile, Liam is infuriated by a phone call from Danny announcing he has sold his share of the factory.

A devastated Violet discovers she may never be able to have children; and Jason resolves to take fatherhood more seriously - though his change of heart could have more to do with Sarah than Holly.

Carla sneakily attempts to get her business off the ground by offering Kelly extra money to make up some samples - but Liam and Paul are displeased by her staff-poaching antics; Eileen is disappointed when Jason shows no inclination to care for Holly permanently; Tracy plays on Deirdre's suspicions by claiming to have a head injury; and Roger asks a surprised Janice to accompany him on a trip to France.

Michelle gets the upper hand when Steve tries to sabotage her date with Sonny; Ken and Deirdre hope Peter's visit will put a stop to Charlie's behaviour, unaware that Tracy's taking them all for a ride; Janice decides to accompany Roger to France; and Sarah looks to the future.

Peter Barlow is back on the Street and angered by news that Charlie's mistreating Tracy - though a case is mistaken identity means that he's the one in danger; Liam is irritated by Carla's use of his office and staff; and Jason palms off his babysitting duties on Violet.

Deirdre and Ken come running as Peter's left unconscious by a furious Charlie, and when the police arrive Tracy gets the chance to turn the whole situation to her advantage; the quiz begins at the Rovers, with Roy and Norris taking the contest rather seriously.

Charlie comes home after a night in the cells and tells Tracy he wants her out - prompting her to reveal what she's been plotting. Liam is dismayed when Carla sets herself up as a permanent fixture in Underworld; and Steve realises he can't compete with Sonny.

Ken persuades Deirdre not to interfere in their daughter's life - a decision he may come to regret as Tracy teeters on the brink of completing her grand plan. Becky turns up late at the café after spending the night with new man Rob, leaving Roy and Hayley concerned about her casual attitude to sex.

With the whole Street believing Charlie is physically abusing Tracy, Ken and Deirdre call at No 6 to get the truth from their daughter - and are disturbed when she doesn't answer the door. As matters come to a head, Peter enters the house to discover a blood-soaked scene.

Tracy is bailed after being questioned by the police, and visits Charlie as he lies in intensive care. Kelly spoils Becky's romantic chances with Rob.

Claire and Gail share their views with the police, painting Charlie as a vicious bully; Maria and Jason visit the builder in hospital; and Bill returns to the Street.

The police break the news of Charlie's death to Tracy and reveal they have new evidence that requires them to question her again; Bill tells the Websters his marriage is over and pays a visit to Audrey (this plot point did not appear in the episode); and Michelle's cosy date with Sonny is rudely interrupted by Paul and Carla.

Jason threatens to thwart Tracy's careful plans by telling the police exactly what she's capable of, while the femme fatale makes her first court appearance and is refused bail. Fiz decides it would be best course for Chesney to move in with her until Les gets himself straightened out.

Ken and Deirdre visit Tracy in prison - where she has both of them convinced she's the victim of an injustice; Les is saddened to see Chesney move in with Fiz; Sarah gives Jason a hand with looking after Holly; and Carla's antics don't go down well with Liam.

As Deirdre pressures Ken to get the money to pay for Tracy's solicitor, he decides to take the drastic action of taking out a remortgage. Peter finds a distraction from his family's concerns in the shape of Maria; Fiz tells Les he has to make a real effort before she'll let Chesney move back in; and when Paul tackles Carla about her use of his staff, she puts a proposition to him.

Cilla returns from her holiday but receives a frosty reception from the residents; and Chesney makes matters worse by running away. The Barlows don't feel up to celebrating Blanche's birthday; Norris finds a way of tracking down old school chums; and Jason struggles with being a working dad.

The police tell Jason they are ready to release Charlie's body, prompting him to ask the Barlows if they will organise the funeral. The search for Chesney continues; Kelly misinterprets a flirtatious signal from Liam; and Michelle helps Steve get to grips with his parenting duties.

The Barlows commiserate with Tracy as she spends her 30th birthday in the cells, while Jason plans Charlie's funeral. David makes the most of Maria's vulnerable state; and Cilla accuses Fiz of brainwashing Chesney. Norris's internet hobby gives Rita an idea - tracing members of her former dance troupe.

Tracy is allowed out of prison long enough to attend Charlie's funeral, where friends of the builder give her the cold shoulder and Jason struggles to give a eulogy to his boss; David misreads Maria's behaviour and tries to kiss her; and Paul stands Carla up on their anniversary in favour of a business meeting.

David is hurt by Maria's rejection and gets revenge by telling everyone Charlie tried to drown him - before making an outrageous claim to the police. Kelly thinks love is in the air when she joins the Connors for drinks; while Les tries to talk Chesney into coming home.

Tracy is released on bail and returns to the Street, where she hears about David's claims - prompting her to wonder what he actually saw. Meanwhile, Liam makes a move on Joanne; Cilla and Les appear to have blown their chances with Chesney; and Roy discovers a stash of valuable comics.

As the police question Maria about Charlie's violent manner, Tracy realises David is lying and could be used to her advantage. Jason attempts to step into his late boss's work boots when a client asks him to renovate the bakery; and Roy realises that Becky has taken his comics to the car-boot sale.

David proves Tracy's not the only wicked one on the Street when he spots an opportunity for blackmail; Cilla and Fiz battle over Chesney; Slug returns to Becky's life and Sean is miffed at missing out on a chance to see Sonny.

Slug continues to be a bad influence on Becky and suggests they 'borrow' the Croppers' new car; Tracy drowns her sorrows in the Rovers, angry that David has got her right where he wants her; Jason promises Sarah a birthday meal; and Joanne is tempted even further into an affair with Liam.

The Croppers' stolen car is located, and Becky's involvement in the theft is revealed. Meanwhile, Ken is outraged with Tracy after she stays out all night.

Michelle introduces Sonny to Sean - who is astonished to discover the man he knows as Sondip has a double life. Cilla has to face the impact of her lies when she's called to Chesney's school; and a friend of Rita's arrives on the Street, leaving Norris feeling put out.

Sean confronts Sonny, who tells him Michelle doesn't need to know about his past relationships - or sexuality. Upset by all the lies, the barman confides in Steve. Fiz is sympathetic as Cilla admits to being a bad parent; and Tracy turns to an old flame when she needs a shoulder to cry on.

Blanche interferes in Tracy's love life, inadvertently leading her granddaughter into a romantic encounter with Steve; Sean warns Sonny he intends to tell Michelle everything; and Kelly remains oblivious to Joanne's relationship with Liam, convinced she's the one who has caught his eye.

Kelly learns what Joanne has been up to with Liam, and in a jealous rage demands that Paul sack her; Blanche is concerned when Tracy invites Steve to Amy's birthday party, worried that her granddaughter is up to her old tricks; Fiz confronts Cilla over money matters; and Jason gets a helping hand.

Tracy and Steve celebrate Amy's birthday and the event brings them closer. Fiz tires of forking out for Chesney's food while Cilla fritters cash on slot machines, and heads to her mum's house to help herself to the contents of the cupboard. Jodie praises Bill's work as he assists Jason.

Jason grumbles when Eileen tells him to start caring for Holly full-time, but panics when the infant goes missing; and Steve tells Tracy their night together was a one-off, while revelling in Michelle's reaction.

Jason tells Violet he's not cut out to be a dad - before picking up the phone to call Social Services; and Carla is cross at Paul's lack of interest in her business.

Eileen is furious to hear a complaint has been made to Social Services about Holly's care; Sarah is vexed to discover that Jason hasn't given a thought to Valentine's Day; Fiz realises she may not be able to compete with Cilla; Norris gets a surprise; and Becky begins work on a gift for the Croppers.

Becky's attempts to apologise to the Croppers fall on deaf ears, and she becomes chief suspect when smoke is later seen pouring from the cafe. Eileen makes a tough decision about Holly; and Norris's detective work leads him to believe his secret admirer is none other than Sally Webster.

Becky is released from police custody to find the whole Street blaming her for the fire at Roy's Rolls, and begs Hayley to believe her protestations of innocence; Chesney enjoys being spoilt by Cilla; and Carla receives good news about the Trendy Tots order.

David meets Tracy's solicitor, and persuades her that he could be a key witness. Liz urges Steve to finish things with Tracy, but he ends up digging himself a deeper hole by trying to make Michelle jealous.

Tracy begs David to testify on her behalf - prompting the wily teenager to make a skin-crawling suggestion; Hayley tries to get in touch with Becky; and Ashley explores his feminine side to help Claire's project.

Fed up with feeling tethered to the women in his life, Steve organises a night out with the lads; the Barlows are shocked to learn that Tracy is not entitled to legal aid; and Hayley discovers Becky in a run-down hostel.

Steve goes on a night on the tiles with Lloyd and Sean - and catches Sonny in a compromising position. Tyrone struggles to contain his curiosity over an object in a customer's car; and a lustful David continues to pester Tracy.

Steve revels in knowing Sonny's secret and doesn't miss the chance to make his rival feel uncomfortable. Sean confides in Jamie, unable to keep his love interest's identity to himself; Becky and Carla reach an agreement; and Rita brushes off Norris's party in favour of an evening with Doreen.

Chesney's efforts with Tyrone's metal detector unearth an explosive device in the Peacocks' garden.

Sean is forced to lie to his friends as Sonny tells him they must keep their affair secret; Tracy confides with Steve when the situation with David gets too much; Jason returns from town bearing gifts for Holly and Beth; Tyrone considers disposing of the metal detector; and Paul congratulates Carla.

Eileen is impressed by Jason's efforts to be a good dad to Holly; Claire gives Ashley cause for concern when she meets up with a girl she has been counselling; and Michelle fears Sonny is planning to end their relationship.

Steve hears Sonny has proposed to Michelle, and can't help but blurt out the truth about the businessman in front of a disbelieving crowd at the Rovers. A rift develops between the day and night shifts at Underworld; and cab driver Jamie is astonished to find his latest fare is none other than old flame Leanne.

Finding it difficult to get Steve's accusations out of her head, Michelle confronts Sean and demands the truth about his relationship with Sonny. Leanne impresses the Battersby-Brown clan with her tales of success in the property market and finds that romance could be on the cards with Jamie.

Tracy issues David with a violent warning when he goes a step too far; and Sean's resolve to keep his mouth shut begins to fail when he is quizzed by Liam and Paul.

Michelle is devastated when Sonny's deception is revealed, and tells him the wedding is off; Tracy agrees to meet David for a private encounter; and Liam gets a warning from Jamie about flirting with Leanne.

Jason is suspicious when he sees Tracy entering Charlie's flat with David; spurned by Michelle, Sonny asks Sean to make a go of their relationship; and the Underworld girls make fun of new recruit Vicki.

Sarah is stunned by CCTV footage showing David with Tracy, and demands answers from him; Ryan takes drastic action upon learning the truth behind his mum's break-up with Sonny; and Liz meets a new man.

Deirdre confronts Tracy about the nature of her relationship with David. Carla suspects Liam and Paul are hiding something; while Sean tells Sonny they cannot be together.
